Old Boy

Old Boy is a shocking psychological tale of revenge and the lengths man will go to in order to achieve it. A man is taken and imprisoned in a small dingy hotel room for nearly 15 years. He escapes (or is released) and begins his quest for revenge. This simple premise of one man’s revenge twists and turns until you realise that he is merely a mouse chasing the cheese in another man’s, more sinister, quest for revenge and redemption.

Extremely violent this movie is not for the faint of heart – there are many stomach turning scenes and overall concept behind the story itself leaves a horrible taste in the mouth. But I guess that was the point of it. The movie is wonderfully cinematic and draws your attention like a moth to the flame.

Old Boy is very compelling viewing and raises many questions about our own humanity and scope for forgiveness? just don’t expect a Hollywood ending.
